The 15-Day Celebration of Chinese New Year
The first day of the Lunar New Year is the welcoming of the gods of the heavens and earth.Many people abstain from meat on the first day of the new year because it is believed that this will ensure long and happy lives for them.
On the second day, the Chinese pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods. They are extra kind to dogs and feed them well as it is believed that the second day is the birthday of all dogs.
The third and fourth days are for the sons-in-laws to pay respect to their parents-in-law.
The fifth day is called Po Woo. On that day people stay home to welcome the God of Wealth. No one visits families and friends on the fifth day because it will bring both parties bad luck.
On the sixth to the 10th day, the Chinese visit their relatives and friends freely. They also visit the temples to pray for good fortune and health.
The seventh day of the New Year is the day for farmers to display their produce. These farmers make a drink from seven types of vegetables to celebrate the occasion. The seventh day is also considered the birthday of human beings. Noodles are eaten to promote longevity and raw fish for success.
On the eighth day the Fujian people have another family reunion dinner, and at midnight they pray to Tian Gong, the God of Heaven.
The ninth day is to make offerings to the Jade mperor.
The 10th through the 12th are days that friends and relatives should be invited for dinner. After so much rich food, on the 13th day you should have simple rice congee and mustard greens (choi sum) to cleanse the system.
The 14th day should be for preparations to celebrate the Lantern Festival which is to be held on the 15th night.
元宵节是中国的传统节日,吃元宵,闹花灯,猜灯谜是这一天的传统的来历。
容我先介绍一下元宵节的习俗和来历吧!农历正月十五元宵节,又称上元节。这天夜里叫元宵,它是大地回春的第一个月圆的夜晚。月圆有大团圆的含义,所以应该全家人相聚,共同闹元宵。在这天晚上,家家都要点花灯、吃元宵。元宵节放花灯起源于汉代的永平年间,当时是为了表示对佛教的崇敬,吃元宵的风俗起源于宋代。在南方,元宵又叫汤圆,也寓意团圆。这就是元宵的习俗和来历,知道了吧!
晚上,我和妈妈坐车前往中山公园,一路上,我看见了许多店家门前都挂着大红灯笼,有些还挂着形态各异的花灯,灯壁上的图案被灯光照得闪闪发光,给人感觉那是一盏价值连城的花灯,那种美感实在难以用言语表达。车上的人越来越多,恐怕是去看花灯的吧!到了,快下车!我拉着妈妈的手一下车就直奔向公园,到了正门,远远望去,到处是灯光,到处是人影,熙熙攘攘的,热闹极了,看来我是不虚此行啊!走进正门,一个大蓬映入眼帘,蓬顶布满了霓虹灯,一进去,到处流光溢彩,如同置身于光彩隧道一样。向右走,两边挂着各式各样的花灯,它们就像一个个窈窕淑女,可谓是娇美动人啊!咦,那是什么呀?我满脑打着问号,走进一看,是动画之城里的动画明星啊,他们一个个都是那么可爱,把我带进了童年时代看的动画片中!又走了一段路,瞧,那是一条巨龙,看它的龙须多长,从头到尾,一股英气感染了我,再看它那挺拔的身躯,真帅!而我们中国人是龙的传人,真棒!欣赏了一段,这时湖边聚满了许多人,我挤进去,是它们,你们猜猜?提示一下,跟我们的2015奥运会有关,猜对了吗?那就是──奥运吉祥物五福娃,它们摆着引人的姿势站在灯上,正向我们招手呢!
我还看见人群中的一幕幕:有的买了荧光棒或者荧光球,到处玩耍呢;有的在长椅上休息,一边赏灯,一边吃东西、玩乐;有的在大型的花灯前拍照,我想是要留个纪念吧!
一路观赏完,我和妈妈到海景好又多买东西。出来时,好又多办了一个猜灯谜活动。我上前看了一张,上面写着:土,打一数学用词。我想了一会儿,是加减法(十加一 等于土);又看了一张,黄绒毛,包似弓,打一食物。我略加思索,我想到了,你猜猜?是饺子!找服务员一查对了,可惜没买够68元,没能领到奖品。但我的心比吃了蜜还甜!

我国传统的习俗有很多,比如说:中秋节我们要吃月饼,春节我们要贴对联,端午节我们要吃粽子。不过,我最喜欢的还是元宵节我们能够看花灯,气氛红红火火,锣鼓声震耳欲聋。
有一次爸爸妈妈带着我一起去了人民公园观赏花灯。我们走到花灯那里,就看见了迪斯尼乐园桃园三结义牧童骑黄牛孔雀展翅。。最令人眼花缭乱的无非就是孔雀展翅,它们的翅膀就像眼睛一样,一眨一眨的多美啊!还有桃园三结义是三国演义中的故事,其中张飞关羽刘备。他们好像是在对天起誓:我们虽说不能同年同月同日生,但求同年同月同日死。迪斯尼乐园的米老鼠吹大号,唐老鸭吹笛子,这些吹鼓手竟然是如此卖力。围观的人们都在赞不绝口。前面的灯真是一眼都望不到头。
元宵节的花灯真是有趣极了!
